Getting the Review You Want

“Looks OK to me” – “This is wrong” – “Insert pg 2-4 of the spec here” – ” There is a typo in this sentence”. These are the review comments that are guaranteed to fill the heart of any tech writer with despair!
Excellent documentation needs more than mere review. You need to engage your reviewers and get them to buy in to what you already know – that documentation is an important and valuable part of the product. This presentation will discuss the common problems which plague the critical review phase of the doc cycle, and suggest some ways to improve collaboration. I will also discuss ways to bring traceability into the review process so that reviewers are accountable for the quality of the documentation. Finally I will show some tools, templates and processes that you can adopt to get the review your docs deserve.
Meet the Presenter
Sharon Figueira has spent 20+ years in the domain of technical writing, as a writer, manager, and director of technical publications. She has taken a leading role in three migrations to DITA/CCMS, most recently at Ericsson. For the past year she has worked for IXIASOFT, a leading provider of a component content management system as a pre-sales engineer.
