Editors add tremendous value to doc teams: they influence the quality of information that writers produce. Editors can also be thought leaders, guiding content strategy and the way we think about our documentation and the way we interact with our readers. To effectively lead in this way, editors must work collaboratively with writers, reframing editing guidance in the spirit of partnership and coaching rather than the traditional teacher/student paradigm that often makes writers less enthusiastic about engaging with editing.
